Book Club: Automate the Boring Stuff with Python

February 22 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

WHERE: Nature’s Brew Cafe
WHEN: 9am, Saturday, February 2
WHY: “You will learn the basics of programming so that you can automate simple tasks such as the following:
– Moving and renaming thousands of files and sorting them into folders
– Downloading files or copy text from a website whenever it updates
– Updating or formatting Excel spreadsheets
– [etc].

These tasks are simple but time-consuming for humans, and they’re often so trivial or specific that there’s no ready-made software to perform them. Armed with a little bit of programming knowledge, you can have your computer do these tasks for you.”

– Introduction to Automate the Boring Stuff with Python, Al Sweigart

Come join us for coffee and Python as we tackle the book’s sections one at a time. Each book club session will have a leader to guide the discussion, and we encourage everyone to take a look at the material beforehand. The book we are focusing on is “Automate the Boring Stuff with Python” by Al Sweigart. The full text of the book is online for free at:

– a laptop
– notebook, pens, and paper
– re-usable cup

This is a buy-your-own-coffee event, so let’s support Nature’s Brew.
Lastly, we expect all attendees to abide by the PyLadies Code of Conduct, available here:
