Inclusive Storytelling with Data – Accessibility and Data Visualisation
February 20 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Larene is (soon) a software engineer at Datalust, creators of Seq centralized logging platform. Her honours thesis was in gender recognition of faces using computer vision and machine learning. She runs Women Who Code Brisbane, and speaks at conferences about accessibility and inclusion. She likes donuts, but is not a huge fan of chocolate.
Ever wondered how to design a bar graph for people who can’t see?
Larene is an accessibility specialist when it comes to web and technology. In 2019, she worked on various software projects that required data visualisation — from live energy usage graphs to data dashboards.
The truth is, building data visualisation with accessibility in mind creates a simpler, more usable display of information for everyone. Larene will share a bunch of tips and examples to help you share your awesome data with the world!
