Let’s do some more data engineering talks, networking and knowledge sharing!

Talk: “Why is Test Driven Development so Hard for Analytics Projects?”
Message to the Audience:

Speaker: Phil Watt

Abstract: Phil will talk about his research into the difficulties in implementing Test-Driven Development (TDD) in the context of analytics and data warehousing, including a discussion of the sometimes controversial topic of determinism in analytics testing. The challenges identified in Phil’s research are grouped into three categories: technical, data and organisation. The good news is that many of the challenges are soluble.

About Phil: Phil Watt is a Director for Elait Australia, specialising in data engineering and data governance solution services. He has more than 25 years experience in large scale enterprise analytics and data engineering programmes, and his interest is in the journey to scale business programmes from small, proof of concept initiatives through to operational company-wide solutions with a high strategic impact.

We will also have time after the talk(s) for a community noticeboard where folks will have around 60 seconds to pitch their wares – if you’ve got an awesome data job going or you are available to fill an awesome job or even that you’ve found a great open source tool that we should all be contributing to, this will be the time to let us know!

Future Talks:

Let us know if you’ve got something to talk about for the future meetups. Talks can run anywhere from 5-30 min. All skill levels welcome to present something – just about everything is new to someone!
