Data Science Journey: From Chaos to SciOps
April 30 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
6:00 – 6:30 pm: Food & Drinks
6:30 – 7:15 pm: A talk by Dr. Basel Yousef
7:00 -8:00 pm: Q&A and Networking
Data Science has been around for decades, during which time it has been evolving, advancing and maturing until it became essential for adding a competitive value to businesses across most industries.
Data scientists (DSs) go to great lengths to understand the business problems, explore the data, design and implement pipelines, build and refine models, validate and implement the models into the business.
DSs usually come from diverse disciplines and therefore often tend to adopt different techniques, tools, platforms and programming languages. They also follow a diverse set of ad-hoc processes that in some cases are not the most efficient or the easiest to build and evaluate data science approaches.
In this talk I will be presenting some of the best practices, tools and libraries for building data science products and empowering the data science team to collaborate effectively.
This talk will be followed by a series of workshops focusing on a few techniques and tools.
Basel is a data scientist currently working on a pioneering greenfield cost modelling and forecasting project. Previously he worked as an AI research scientist at the University of Nottingham to help researchers from different disciplines gain insights and make the most out of their data using data analytics, machine learning and big data. Basel obtained his PhD in 2016 from Oxford Brookes University in fault tolerance and failure recovery in multi-tenancy software as a service (SaaS). He then moved into data engineering with a focus on big data in the financial sector and during this time he developed passion for artificial intelligence applications.
We will be providing pizza and drinks which are kindly provided by our sponsor, RP Analytics.
*Please don’t forget to RSVP so we have an idea about the numbers attending*
