Tech Talk: Serverless with Knative and Tekton Pipelines
February 25 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
We have two great talks lined up around cloud native development and Kubernetes. It should be a great chance to get to see some of the newest cloud tools and frameworks in action.
• 18.30 – Food, drinks and networking
• 19.00 – Serverless with Knative
Knative is a Kubernetes based platform to deploy and managed modern serverless workloads.
In this talk Ed will give you a quick recap on Kubernetes and then explain the basics of Knative.
You’ll then see how to deploy and manage an application using Knative, demonstrating how it focuses more on app development and less on infrastructure.
Speaker: Ed Shee – Cloud Developer Advocate (IBM)
• 19.45 – Break
• 20.00 – Using Tekton to accelerate CI/CD in a cloud native environments
Tekton is a powerful, Kubernetes-native open-source framework for creating continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) systems. Using the idea of a pipeline, Tekton runs a set of tasks that you’ve chosen to execute as part of your CI/CD process. Tekton can build, test, and deploy across multiple cloud providers or on-premises systems by abstracting the underlying implementation. Join us to learn more about Tekton, setting up Tekton tasks and pipelines, and using Tekton to execute a pipeline.
Speaker: Duane Appleby – Software Engineer for IBM and Tekton
